Hear me on this: There is no article of clothing that can make a woman feel more powerful or more confident, than the right piece of lingerie.

It’s something that has the potential to make someone feel empowered and, yes – sexy.

You just have to find the right brand for you.

If you’ve not yet discovered lingerie you love to wear – under or without anything else – we’ve rounded up the best lingerie brands for you to buy online here, including Kim Kardashian’s just released “nipple push-up bra” from her best-selling brand SKIMS.

Yep, you read right. Nips are back. Tell a friend.

In a tongue-in-cheek promo video posted on her Instagram over the weekend, Kim explains: “The earth’s temperature is getting hotter and hotter. Sea levels are rising. The ice sheets are shrinking. I’m no scientist, but I believe everyone can do their skillset to do their part.

“That’s why I’m introducing a brand-new bra with a built-in nipple so matter how hot it is, you’ll always look cold.

“Some days are hard but these nipples are harder. And unlike the icebergs, these aren’t going anywhere.”

The SKIMS Ultimate Nipple Push Up Bra has the “perfect fullness, enhanced shape, and authentic augmentation of the Ultimate Bra” but now comes with a “built-in raised nipple detail for a perky, braless look that makes a bold statement”.

And you bet it’s caused quite the stir on social media, with happy shoppers posting their try-on videos on TikTok.

“Oh my god, I love it,” one shopper screamed when she tried on the bra for the first time. Hundreds of comments on the videos simply say “need”, “OK want” and “goals”.

And after just a couple of days, three colourways have already sold out. So if you’re keen to get your hands on the “ultimate attention-grabbing” bra, be quick and add to cart asap.

The perfect combo of sexy and support, this balconette underwire style bra from Bendon takes our pick for the best bra on the market right now. Plus, it is available up to a G Cup and unlike other bras that claim to go up to bigger sizes but never actually work, members of the team can personally confirm that this is not the case for the Sofia bra. It provides the perfect “subtle uplift and support” says Kirstin.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT KINDS OF BRA DESIGNS?

There are many different designs of bras, though they don’t all enjoy the same level of popularity, era to era. The bullet bra – a full-cup bra with points at the centre of their cups – was hugely commonplace in the 1950s, then briefly again in the early 1990s (courtesy of Madonna) but are now, all but disappeared from stores. Soft cup bras, without padding or underwire, have largely been overlooked in recent decades – with push-up bras and similarly structured undergarments dominating trends – but no longer, as women are ever-increasingly turning to natural silhouettes.

WHAT IS THE COMFIEST BRA TYPE?

“Comfort is personal, but if you’re looking for the ultimate in cosy, let us introduce you to the T-shirt bra,” says Kirstin.

“It’s like a soft hug that lasts all day, thanks to its seamless design and smooth, moulded cups. Perfect under any outfit; it’s the unsung hero of the lingerie world.”

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF BRAS FOR DIFFERENT BREAST SHAPES?

According to Kirstin, the world of bras is wonderfully diverse. She says, “different breast shapes call for different bras”.

She continued: “For fuller busts, a balconette or full-coverage bra offers excellent support. For smaller or shallow breasts, a demi-cup or push-up can work wonders. If you have asymmetric breasts (and who doesn’t?), a bra with removable padding is your best friend. For wide-set breasts, a plunge style can bring everything front and centre.”

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I REPLACE MY LINGERIE?

Surprisingly, Kirstin says that a well-loved bra will typically only last about six to 12 months.

She says that if you start noticing the straps losing their stretch or the band getting too stretchy, it’s probably time for a new one.

HOW SHOULD I CARE FOR MY LINGERIE?

“Lingerie is like a close friend – treat it carefully, and it’ll be there for you,” says Kirstin.

She recommends hand washing your bras gently in cold water with mild detergent and laying them flat to dry, or placing them in a wash bag on a delicate wash.

A quick pro tip from Kirsten: “always clip up your bras in the back to keep them in shape”.

When it comes to briefs, a delicate machine wash with your undies in a lingerie bag works perfectly.

Most importantly, Kirsten says that “no matter the temptation, don’t put your lingerie in the dryer!” According to her, “it can damage delicate fabrics and shorten their lifespan.”

HOW DO I CHOOSE THE RIGHT SIZE OF LINGERIE?

Kirstin says that it all starts with knowing your measurements – both your band and your bust.

She says that once your have those numbers, it’s all about finding styles that feel like they were made for you.

And she says to remember, “it’s okay to have different sizes for different brands or styles. The important thing is how it feels on your body.”
