Rob Delaney lost his son, Henry nearly a year ago and now that he spent his very first Christmas without the child, he took to social media to reflect on the painful and untimely death of the 2 year old. Here’s what he had to say!
The Catastrophe actor posted on Facebook back in February: ‘I have really sad news. My two-year-old son Henry passed away. Henry had been diagnosed with brain tumor in 2016, after his first birthday, following persistent vomiting and huge weight loss. He had surgery and further treatment through early 2017. Then the cancer returned last fall and he died in January.’
That being said, this year’s Christmas was the first one after the little boy lost his fight with cancer and the father took to Twitter to talk about the holiday without him.
He went on to explain that ‘The day itself was okay, maybe because there were many horrible days leading up to it; we must’ve hit our quota or something. We talked about him a lot and included his memory throughout the day. I speak publicly about Henry in an effort to destigmatize grief. My family is sad and in pain because our beautiful boy died after a long illness. Why wouldn’t we be sad? Why wouldn’t we be angry and confused?’
He also shared with his fans that tweeting about it like that is not exactly ‘therapeutic’ for him nor are his tweets ‘updates.’
Instead, the actual goal of the posts talking about the tragedy is to help other ‘bereaved’ parents and siblings ‘feel seen/heard/respected/loved.’

Or maybe him getting candid about his thoughts and feelings would also help someone who hasn’t experienced grief support a mourning friend in a better way.
